Bid farewell to Rohit, promising to keep in touch and hopefully meet someday soon on the road.
Set out towards Manali, about 80 KMs to cover for today. Roads were in great condition, one couldn’t ask for more.
Reached Manali sometime post lunch and started hunting for a place to stay. Found a place in Old Manali for about 350 bucks a night.
Was surprising to find a guy from Maharashtra running a clothes store close by.
Managed to finish the permit paperwork for Rohtang pass. Found two stores that deal with camping equipment. Had to do a bit running about to get the sticks replaced. Kudos to Tashi from the store who helped out in making the tent usable.
With the help of a few locals, found this homely food joint in the market area called Ladakhi Dhaba. Run by two loving aunties who are more than happy to serve.
Along with a plate of momos, got complimentary mutton soup.
Walking around in the mall area is a dangerous affair, considering any random bloke will walk up to you and ask if you want ‘maal’. ‘Sir lelo, cream hai’ Along with that they tried to sell a solo guy some shilajit. Couldn’t stop myself from laughing at the situation.
Next morning woke up to this incredible view.
Headed to Vashisht and grabbed at bite at German Bakery.
After seeing the crowd at the hot water spring here, decided to head back to Manali and walked around to some local temples and nearby areas.
For dinner went back to Ladakhi Dhaba for momos and soup. Can vouch for that to be perfect soul food.
